So...How Clean Is Your New Mower?

I know we're all very proud of ourt new man-toys. Atleast I know I am. Just curious...knowing these things cut grass and all, how clean do you keep yours? After finishing the lawn today I took the blower to my mower and after it cooled off I squirted it off with the hose. Thats about it for me. I didnt break out the soap bucket or anything. Just wondering what the rest of you guys do.

I started my fifth cut on my new Cheetah yesterday. I knew there was a high probability of rain, but thinking I had time to beat the rain, I cut about half of the yard. Well, just this once, there was no drizzle, just an immediate down pour. The mower was full of grass, and is now wet and dirty as I put it in the building. It rained again today. The mower is still dirty, and full of grass.

Looking at the mower, I'm thinking, "This is not what I planned for my new toy"......

I usually blow the Cheetah clean, and wipe it down with a wet rag, then blow it again.... Things happen.....

I hear ya!!!! I had a similar experience last week and it's the first time I've put my Gravely in the garage since September, 2012 with a single grass blade left on it:0)
I have about the same OCD(Obsessive Cumpulsive Disorder) as you and most likely at end-of-season I'll add a "wash & wax" final cleanup stage for storage over the winter!! My wife thinks I need serious psychiatric counseling:0)

I'm in a burb of Nashville(Middle TN) called Mount Juliet(home of Charlie Daniels if you know that name:0)
I do a lot of boating/camping on Percy Priest, Old Hickory and Cordell Hull lakes(all managed by the Corp. Of Engineers). I'm retiring in October and really want to hook up the travel trailer and visit Cajun Country!!! I used to have a distant cousin that owned a shrimp boat out of Bayou La Batre but I never got a chance to visit before her husband passed and she got out of the shimping business. We took a two-week trip a couple of years ago to Acadia National Park in Maine(to get a real maine lobster:0) and now we're ready for some REAL cajun food(all we have around here is a "Cajun Steamer" chain restaurant which is pretty decent(authentic) but I'm looking forward to some "homemade" jambalaya!!!! What part of "Cajun Country" are you located in??

BTW, I "don't do" crayfish.......I caught them critters in creeks grownin' up and I just can't bring myself to eat "bait"(we use 'em to catch largemouth bass around here). I'm the same way about calamari(squid) which is the best bait for red snapper when we go to the Gulf:0)

Although mine isn't quite new anymore (2 years old) I still make sure I at least blow it off before I put it up and maybe wash it in the off season. I also scrape any build up off from under the deck when I take my blades off to sharpen.

We have participated in two Trike Gathering put together by Wayne Sawyer (Retired Nashville Metro Police). We stayed on Percy Priest Rd at the interstate, and road the country side. Loved it.

We are located in South-Central Louisiana in Lafayette, five mile north of I-10 and exit 97. Making a great Jambalaya is second nature around here. We visited Nova Scotia in mid '12. that was a great trip as well.

I'm going to go finish cutting my grass and clean the Cheetah.

None of my mowers have ever been rained on much less washed. I blow them off, wipe them off. Scrape them off. But no wash .

I've been to Acadia National Park in Maine a few times myself, last time was probably back in 1998. Its absolutely beautiful up there, wouldn't mind moving to maine myself. Did you go up Cadillac Mt.? Lots of great hiking trails up there too.
