Hello Jennifer... WELCOME to these Forums....
Need to know more about your mower engine... Depending on the type carburetor and fuel delivery system...
Post type & model #s. Or a picture.

You can verify your suspicion about not getting enough fuel by substitution of another type fuel... the easiest to use is common Spray starting fluid... Ether in a spray can about $3 in the automotive section at most any store. It should start & run on the stuff if the only problem is fuel delivery. Just spray it into the air cleaner assembly, post back with the results ... :smile:KennyV

Okay picture... But I guess I should have been more clear...
I could guess a bit easier if I saw the other side of the engine, Carburetor and how it looks like it gets fuel from the fuel tank...Don't pour gasoline into the spark plug hole... Raw liquid gasoline is Very hard to ignite, it likely will just flood out the ignition.... (That's why I might use an aerosol spray can of ether, Starting Fluid)...

In your first post you said: I am getting pleanty of fire, but mower acts like it is not getting gas...
Then your last post you say: ...little to no spark....
How are you determining this? Are you referring to the same thing? Plenty of "fire"= plenty of ignition spark...
What happened to the plenty of spark (fire) when it became "little to no spark"?
Now I'm getting confused... :smile:KennyV

That cable you see towards the rear of the engine is used to kill the engine along with the flywheel brake. If that cable gets out of adjustment, when you lift up the bail/handle to start it, it may not be pulling far enough to break contact of the kill switch. If that is the case, and something just to get you by, you can take the inner cable out of the bail, tie it in a knot and replace it in the bail. This will shorten it and in effect make it shorter pulling the linkage enough to break contact of the kill switch.

I know about the kill cable, but the guy who worked on it said that there is a wire under/behind the coil that was crushed down. Said he put tape on it, but did not show me what he had done(I know I know--ask repair person to show you what they have done to it) thinking its this wire that is causing me issues, plus governor springs are stretched out. Have found where to get the springs, but unsure how to put them on. and its a 3.5 engine.Linkage and Springs.jpg pic of motor like mine
