reading 12.76 at battery .13 purple lead switch on run ground in earth.

OK we are not looking for volts here, just continuity at (M) on switch & earth (please read the above again)

If you have continuity between them a switch is earthing the magneto and the engine will not fire (run)

being we don't have the right model number I am working off four wiring diagrams here, they are..
Tuff Torq K-56 Models
Peerless Models (1998 and Later)
Hydro-Gear 0500 / 0650 Models
Peerless Models (1997 and Earlier)

The wiring for the magneto are the same (PURPLE) coming from magneto to ignition switch and then onto safety switchers so should be able to work from them, stay with it, I'll not give in just yet..!

that purple wire goes to the ground on the coil, the one going to magneto is red with white stripe and the other hooked with it goes to the lights, and the other with the ground goes to the fuel shut off on carb.

Wait...! when you say COIL do you mean MAGNETO because COIL/MAGNETO are the same thing..!

The red/white wire (A) ignition switch comes from the alternator (spliced) to go to lights on blue/red wire.
I will post up wiring diagrams for you to look at, take your time.

You should not be getting 12volts on the magneto wire, that wire is there to make earth to kill the coil (magneto)

Post up the make and model of you meter....
