Yes, Husqvarna owns Redmax. But they have different items & are ran as 2 separate companies. An example of this is Toro & Exmark.

ksgrassguy,

Thanks for pioneering that thread.....I'm leaning towards either the Echo PB-500T or Stihl BR-350 which are mid-range yet still plenty powerful and run $329-$369. That Stihl BR-550 is nice I just can't justify almost $500 for a blower. The smaller ones along with a curved nozzle gutter kit(what I would use more than anything) would serve my needs. I cleaned out my gutters recently(by hand) and it took me an hour of up-and-down a ladder. My next-door neighbor has a handheld blower with the gutter nozzle and it took him 15 minutes(and no ladder). Two or three seasons of that definitely justify the money spent on the backpack blower!!

its there any reason why one would pay $50 more to get the Stihl BR 600?
what if any benefits vs the 550?

on a side note, I like how they look.

Most people buy a blower based on the Mph of the blower which is a very misleading factor that confuses many individuals. What they need to focus on is the CFM, or cubic feet per minute of air volume that the blower is capable of pushing. It is the volume of air moved, not the speed of the air flow, which has the biggest impact on moving leaves and your other debris or junk.

The 600 magnum has 712 cfm which means more air volume out the tube at its 201mph rating and would have biggest impact on moving leaves. The 550 runs 530 cfm, that is your difference, now if it's worth $50 more or not, to me No but I don't move leaves but to someone like LMF and with the pictures he has posted  yea I definitely buy the 600. Oh and the 550 is 2 db quieter than the 600.

Yeah, I really could use a blackpack blower, but I'm building up my arm muscles!
