Ended up making good $$$$$ from SG. Had a couple headeaches here and there but ended up fine in the end. I'm planning on having one truck/employee just doing P&P cuts this year. I'm gonna figure on him doing about 60 per week.? How do you pay your guy's, by the job or hour? I was hoping to hire a respectful college kid I've known for years for $12/hour.

Getting insurance quotes this week... WOW! The first one I got was $1400 and they won't even cover my local residentials.. Which of the 3 insurance agency's did you go with?

Pay by the job. Sub them out to someone that has their own equipment. If you get $40 per yard give them $30 per yard.

I kept the Insurance I had. I never switched to one of the three.

Do you just do p&p ?

I did some REO last year but I found it to be a pain. If I need more properties once the season begins I'll call the REO regional. Our P&P cuts end 10-31 and REO goes until snow flies. So in November it equals out to driving 150 miles to mow 6 properties. I also didn't like the weekly cuts on some of the REO, threw a wrench into my routes. I should probably just take them this year and try to find a local subcontractor to do REO.

How'd you swing the insurance? I got my pick of any carrier last year because it was my first year, but was told this year I had to pick out of the 3. I mentioned I wasn't happy about that and they said to talk to the VP, but it was doubtful he'd approve it.

I just ignore the insurance.

I am not going to pay double the price.
