Lifted the mower up with my motorcycle lift. The shaft that comes down from the engine is turning but no pulleys are turning. The noise did sound internal from engine. The fuel filter is empty and I did look inside when I took the top off and saw no gas entering the carb. Thanks for all the help.

That doesn't compute in my brain......... There's a keyway that fit's between the pulleys and crankshaft and a bolt that tights the pulleys to the crankshaft.
BUT.... Since the shaft it turning, that doesn't explain why your not getting fuel...

Do you have gas in it? (I know, that's a stupid question) But sometimes I overlook the stupidest things... (As in some of my posted questions)

BTW, does you engine have a fuel pump? Or is it gravity fed? (With the fuel tank being higher than the carb)

When an engine suddenly stops with with a strange , weird or unusual noise, the spark plug is to be pulled to check compression. To do that test at no cost, your thumb or finger, if you like to give it the finger, is placed over the plug hole and the engine is cranked. If there is enough compression to start the engine you'll have a difficult time holding your thumb or finger on the hole. If not, start looking for another engine or parts that are determined after tear down.

There is no need to check fuses, mod. numbers, tire pressure or oil level. That's only hopeful measures that are moot at this time.

I was really going with the low tire pressure or the exhaust fuse.

Thanks everyone for all the help. The engine has zero compression. Looked at the piston, not moving at all. Took a dowel rod and stuck in the spark plug hole and was able to push the piston back easily. Now the flywheel is locked again like before, it will only turn 1/8 of a turn and freezes. I did try filling up the left front tire, it was a little low but that did not help :confused2: !!!! New mower is being delivered Thursday but I am still going to fix this one, looks like a fun winter project. Any links would be appreciated to tear it down. Thanks again for all the help.

I sure hope you didn't use all your air on that left front tire. I don't like being the bearer of bad news but you may need some to air a leaky tire on the new mower.

We'll need a pic of that new tractor or it didn't happen.
