Recoil pulley tabs

Is there anyway to fix the metal tabs on the blower housing that hold the recoil pulley down? I have an old Briggs Stratton 8 hp engine and all four tabs are broken. Any suggestions? Thank you.
 
Post up the model and type numbers so we can see what set up you have, they will either be stamped into the metal housing above the spark plug, around the spark plug area or above the muffler.
 
Model # 190702. Type#2130-01 code# 84111209. The metal tabs that hold the recoil pulley in place are all broken. They are on the blower shroud. Any way to fix this?
 
I have made new tabs out of sheet metal. Pop rivet them on from the inside out, so the pop rivets don’t interfere with the pulley.
 
Lol, I hear you. License plates, siding, the metal panels of old computer towers... but I've used all of it up and I'm seriously considering actually *buying* sheet metal.

Or I could just trim a little from the shed, it leaks already.

you may remember but wasn't there a plastic tab that snapped onto the starter housing legs to replace the broken tabs on the housing. I haven't seen or heard about them for years.
 
Briggs made plastic clips that would snap over the post on the starter housing don't know if they are still available. would be worth a try.
