I have a 19 h.p twin cylinder model 407777 type 0124-e1 code 00922yg.i bought this from a guy and he took off the air cleaner and sprayed down the carb and started right up and died .he repeated a few times and got it to run but only with the choke pulled out some.i bought it and figured it needed a fuel filter or carb cleaned.put in new filter cleaned the carb and emptied gas.started it same thing but this time it wont run at all.i took the carb off again thinking dirt got sucked in .same.i pulled the hose off the fuel pump and its coming out.it will run fine if you give it continuous spraying of the cleaner.i checked the needle valve.does this sound like the float might be chacked and staying on the bottom.im putting too much money in this I appreciate all the help I can get.

If the float was on the bottom it would keep feeding it fuel, you tested the fuel pump?

Hook up a test fuel tank hanging above the engine with a fuel line that has a tap installed.
Pull the bowl and hold the float up with your finger, turn the fuel tap on then let the float move down.
Wok the float up & down a bit.
If all is good you should have a strong flow of fuel which should stop flowing when the float is horizontal.

If you only have a very weak bribble then the fuel passage is blocked up and needs cleaning.
If the float cuts the fuel off before it is horizonal then it needs adjusting if it does not stop till higher then horizontal then the needle & seat will need replacing.

Try that and post your results.

let me see if I under stand what your saying.say I take my tank and have someone hold it up high.remove the cover to the float and connect a line from tank directly to the carb.float horizontal no fuel will come in and pull it slow to see if I get gas coming out

I was just about to do what you said to do and I put a tank up high and when I disconnected the hose from the carb gas poured out.isnt that suppose to come out with the motor turning over?if not whats the purpose of a fuel pump.

There should alays be fuel between the pump & carb
This should dribble out when you disconnect them under gravity .
If it spurts out like it is under pressure then there is a problem with the float as the fuel pump is very low pressure.

And yes you read the post correct but try hanging the other tank from a rafter or cloths line or some thing like that,
The float must drop down under it's own weight.
If you have to pull it down you need to clean the pivot and the pivot pin.
You do get corrosion in there which stops the float dropping.
Float dont drop, needle don't open , fuel don't flow.
so mower won't go.

I understand every thing you are telling me but what I did first was disconnect the hose from the carb that's coming from the fuel pump and it never stops coming out is this normal.if you could answer this I will do the gravity test with a new line and see how my float is working.thanks

If the open end of the fuel line is lower than the level of the fuel in the tank then it will syphon out, just the same as if some one is pinching your fuel with a length of garden hose.
SO just let it drain out into a container.
From memory your fuel tank site behind the engine under the firewall 2/3 of it is above the level of the carb and 1/3 is below and it is only this bit that needs the pump to lift the fuel to the carb

so when I disconnect the hose from the carb and everything is still connected to the fuel pump it should completely empty my tank cause this is what happens
