I've read on forums the dip stick cap should set on top of the tube while others say screw it in . Which is it ?
THIS GUY SAID " HEY YOU DIPSTICK , READ WHAT IT SAYS ON THE DIPSTICK .To check level screw the cap on. It is a minimal difference at best anyway.
Simple logic to me is: Does the engine run with the cap loose or the cap tight? Why would you check the oil with the cap loose?
About 8 ounces different in fluid in most cases. And the engine manufacturer makes the decision to how the oil is checked for proper fill level. To check level screw the cap on. It is a minimal difference at best anyway.

Please designate who this is intended for .I think you are exagerating the ounces.
