No start

Grounded the plug. No spark. disconnected the "kill" wire. No spark. Coil installed correctly. It's marked"out". I don't think you could make the electrical connections if it were installed upside down. Didn't hit anything. Will try and check the crankshaft keyway, it's a long shot but who knows.
Sheared flywheel key in this won't prevent spark. Would effect starting and running but will still produce spark.

Even if the key is sheared, it will still spark

Technically it is a CDI. The new style briggs ignition modules are Capacitive Discharge Ignition.

I work in the industry like you do, but many people here don't, so terminology and acronyms can be confusing for them.
