What am I missing here MTZ52 for 5518.00 otd., I see advertised day in and day out the MTZ-61 with welded deck (like the one I own) for $4500, that would be plus tax, and here that would take it to about $4940 ... What kind of tax do y'all have.... Anyway at those prices I would definitely buy the Hustler SD54 for 3812.otd., no way would I go different at those prices, hello Hustlers are great mowers IMO...
I just think you either made a typo or the Husky is way over priced... What am I missing...???
Have a good one...Tater...

I have not seen a husky MZT 61 for $4500 anywhere. If you bought one new for that price then you got an unbelievable deal. For the extra money you get a commercial mower (mzt 52) compared to a high end residential (raptor sd 54). Personally I think $5518 for a mower with a welded deck, the fs series Kawi engine, and zt3400 drives is a very good deal. The raptor sd has the Kawi fr series, and zt2800 hydros. The husky holds more fuel and has larger tires. I do also like the raptor sd, but the mzt is a better mower. Not comparing apples to apples there.

What you saw advertised is a MZ61, msrp (4995.00)not a MZ-T 61,(6299.00 msrp w/kawi) 5995.00(w/brigs) big difference in the two, go to Husqvarna and do the compare models and you can see. I bought my MZT 52 (msrp 5899.00 w/kawi) for 5300.00 out the door, 5000.00 + 6% tax. I agree hustler is a good mower, but I extensively researched every model in the 6k price range and less and hustlers sd54 was much cheaper built, thinner steel frame, smaller trannies, fr home grade motors, smaller aluminum spindles and smaller clutch and the list goes on, smaller gas tank, you can get a better grade mower for the same price as a sd54 by using the compare model feature on hustlers site. A mzt 52 and a mzt 61 are comparable to hustlers top residential models above the raptor series, the fast track and they still have fr motors and only 3100 trannies it was priced best deal found was 5300.00 + tax, to better a mzt-52s specs you must step all the way up to the fast track SD then you get a FX motor
(which is the same as my FS except it has the better air cleaner) and 3400 trannies, but the price is best I found was 6500.00. You will get a good mower with either brand if you take the time to research them.

Agreed. The only other mower I have seen that has a comparable price and specs is the snapper pro s125xt ($5300). Have not seen any other brands offer an fs series Kawi engine, zt 3400 hydros, 61" fabricated deck, 22x10 tires, for anywhere close to that price. Except the z master series toro with the equine discount. That is the best deal out there for someone with horses.

When you say the FS is the same as the FX except it has the better air cleaner , your not even close. I have and run both and trust me there's a world of difference between the two motors.

I agree with what your saying, I also agree The Z Master Series Toro is a better mower and better deal than any of the above, with the equine or the $500 discount from Toro and there 0% financing for 48 months or longer I see no reason for buying any of the mowers mentioned when I can have a commercial with the FX engine same as cash.

I said it was the best deal out there for horse owners. I do agree that the z master is a better mower than the mzt or the s125xt, but unless you have horses it it going to cost much more. I think there are better deals out there for comparable mowers for those who don't own horses. The snapper pro s150xt being one example. The big dog mower line looks like a good deal as well.

I Think if you compare model to model you'll find a difference. If you use for example the FX and FS 651 models you'll find a difference. The FX 651 is 20.5 hp, the FS 651 is 22 hp. If you compare the FX 691 it's a 22 hp and its counter part the FS 691 is 23 hp and there all 726 cc engines just set up differently. I mean really would you say the FR 691 at 23 hp is the same thing because it is 726 cc also. Here's the specs for the FR 691.

Displacement 726cm[SUP]3[/SUP] (44.3cu. in.)
Number of Cylinders 2
Bore x Stroke 3.1 x 3.0 in. (78 x 76mm)
Compression Ratio 8.2:1
Oil capacity 2.2U.S. qt (2.1liters)
Maximum Power 23.0hp (17.2kW)

at 3,600rpm

Maximum Torque 39.5ft lbs (53.6N·m)

at 2,200RPM

Dry weight 89.0lbs (40.4kg)

Both are great engines. I would also prefer the fx if I had a choice.

I was comparing two motors a FS and a FX that both had 22 hp, and the specs speak for themselves, same motors just with different air cleaner systems. part numbers mean nothing, you cant compare a 23hp motor with a 20 hp or others, of course they are different.
