hot rod mower... what engine pulley should i use with a 2 inch transaxle pulley

i was wondering what size pulley i should go with for an engine pulley, i already have a 2 inch transaxle pulley. im just needin to know what would give me the best speed, its an 80s model craftsman 36" cut and im goin with a briggs v twin. im also wonderin if anyone knows how i could make a line lock for the front to do some burnouts
 
Jack, I am no expert on this but the larger the pulley is on the front the faster it will go with the small pulley on the rear. As far as a line lock on the front about the only thing you can do is devise some type of flap that will rub against the tread on the front tires, this could be activated by a foot pedal or by a hand lever, either one would not be a simple matter and I say all of this because there is no brake currently hooked to the front wheels, Jack I hope this helped in some way....Bob
 
Just what is a line lock for the front wheels? Front brakes? Seeing your front wheels are small it would take small brakes so I would say disc brakes from a moped?
 
You have a two inch pulley on the back and want to do burn outs.
You have gone too small on the rearend.
If you want good speed and low end power to do burn outs or carry the front wheels 20 feet you need to go with a 3 inch in the back and a 4 inch on the engine.
Craftsman is not a good choice for doing this. The front end of the frame is going to crack and the axle will twist.

I have built many mud mowers and have to tell you this is not safe your going to get hurt.
There are many mods you need to do before you make it go fast.

yes i do have to agree with u there i built one out of a MTD mower i slammed a 24 hp twin in it changed the pulleys did a wheelie and when it came down it smashed the front axle out of it and i got thrown on the ground hard lol i put a new front end in it and beefed it all up so it wont fold again i put wheelie bars on it raced it twice and sold it to a guy that races every weekend ..Next mission is to build one on a raised frame and make into a 4x4 just trying figure out how to hook up the front wheels so they wheel drive hummm:thumbsup:
