Garage Picture Thread

I thought I would start a thread to share your messy, or pristine workplaces.

I'll start off with my garage (or I should say my parents). It is kind of scary to think that this is what it looks like and I'm in High school:confused2: Most of this mess is because we got rid of our shed, so hopefully by the end of this year I'll be able to clear out most of the junk and get everything organized.

Also in there is my mode of transportation, my mom's van. Quite spacious to say the least!

And the lawn mower deck is my current project, repainting an old Toro!

Looks good! Nice and clean. I was wondering, though, how do you get around without a truck? We sometimes walk, but I only have a mower, trimmer, and blower, as well as gas cans. And sometimes it works, and other times it doesn't, like when I dropped my trimmer, and we always have gas cans (luckily sealed) flying everywhere. Any other time, I hate to say it, but my mom takes us to some jobs.

Yes. I know.....laugh it out, luckily she was either already friends with, or became friends with most of our customers (people from church, or other moms) But next year, I shall be licensed to drive a motor vehicle, and I shall do just that......DRIVE!!!!!!!!

We will also hopefully have more customers, and I will hopefully have a truck (so if anyone has one to sell....)

Okay, cool. So do you only use your edger on certain occasions, like thick grass, or a new customer?

Oh, here's another picture. Sorry it's sideways, but yeah. Too many lawn mowers, about 8 I think.

Apparently the cultural definition in Canada of "a man" is domination and controlling of the inferior female gender, whereas here in the States we have put more emphasis on compassion and partnership with our wives. And sissy's were what bullies called unagressive kids when I went to school in the 60's. Again a same-gender dominate/control characteristic. We long ago resolved to be equals here and never having been in Canada I only hope your culture isn't representative of old school dark ages mentality towards others.

Oh give it up, since when is a woman and a man each others equal,(have you ever really looked at one????)..maybe in the gay community?.. or a 250lb woman and a 150 lb man:wink:
Don't make assumptions as to cultural definitions of a country, your country tops the list in men incarcerated so maybe US males have a more dark age mentality than Canadian males ,..although we have our fair share of these losers.
A man is in my eyes one that treats his woman with respect and gives her all the freedom to shape her own life,..but there can be only one captain on a ship(call it dominance if you will) and he is to provide leadership and authority when it is needed( screaming kids and yelling women just won't do).
In my house(which we own jointly) there is no "mine" or "hers", its all "ours", we share the workload as to each's capability, her the light ,me the heavy work(and that don't include keeping house).
She can do what she wants cause I DON"T OWN HER.
So far she's been with me out of her own free will for 42 years and counting.
I do not need a man-cave,..i leave that for the poor "freedom deprived" men who get bullied out of their house by their dominant counterparts

Now remember, you are the one who first began the name-calling and slander of a simple opinionated post I and a couple other users made. Firstly, if women are viewed as not being equal...does that mean they cannot vote in Canada, hold office, receive equal wages for equal services rendered, or I guess I am asking you to clarify in what aspects you consider them unequal(just by looking at one). BTW, I haven't seen any "manly strength" swimmers that have attempted to swim from Cuba to Florida, just to point out a recent woman that is apparently "superior" to her male counterparts!! Your mention of gender incarceration is irrelevant and most likely due to the difference in population density. Your definition of your marital relationship is admirable, yet even though marriage is indeed a "difficult boat to keep afloat" with the changes in society over the last several decades(I too have been happily married for a nice long 33 years and historically marriages in my family have embraced the "til death do we part"). There are different definitions, though, of true leadership even in a marriage and oppression of allowing your "kids to be kids" since running, playing and generally being loud is a quite normal trait of having fun when young and/or a woman loudly verbalizing her displeasure towards excessive in-house activities that have strained her "last nerve" is also normal....would not fit most definitions of true leadership, rather a "my way or the highway" leadership skill with little or no tolerance or freedom to display normal behaviors. IMHO, again my "opinion" true leadership is portrayed by providing guidance rather than authority in a manner that does not cause others to feel threatened or belittled by expressing themselves in a way that "is them". In our society, there has been a obvious trend towards both a man and a woman having a "man cave/shop/etc." or "quiet room" that is some personal space to be undisturbed and unwind to deal with day-to-day stress and has been proven to have health benefits. It is not so much that one or the other has been deprived of their freedom as it is that they benefit from a personal "retreat" for "chilling". And finally I sense some stereotyping in, although sounding appropriate, it not being "manly" to do housework or that women should only be allowed to womanly light work. I take it you have never vacuumed the whole house or scrubbed out the tub & toilet....not exactly what I would call "light work". And....you may be mildly surprised at your wife of 42 year's reaction should you out-of-the-blue volunteer to let her take a break and you will clean the house from one end to the other:0)

Soooooooo, let's just abandon the sidebar/hi-jacking of this thread with the man-cave debate and agree to disagree on the appropriate/inappropriate dominance of the sexes. So let's see some pictures of your garage which is the intent of this thread and I assure you that I intend sharing some of mine.

My wife is as of yesterday on a 3 week vacation to visit her family in Europe so i guess keeping the house clean will be up to me ,..it might not be up to her standards when she comes back but who cares,...
BTW, she never volunteered to clean the shop either.
She is allowed to do all the work she pleases being it light or heavy, but for some reason she prefers that i do the heavy and dirty jobs:wink:
Yeah my wife can swim better than me too, but she's worthless in an arm wrestle, so what's your point?

If you scroll back a page or so you'll see pics of my shop.

I guess the point I was making, similar to your points about man caves, was that equality(between genders) really have more considerations than body mass or arm muscle strength. I'm glad your wife and you are in total agreement regarding your arrangement, my point is that this doesn't mean if someone else has a different arrangement than they are "sissy" or some other derogatory "lesser of a man" connotation by the standards set by you. I'm done and have no further comments on this subject lest the "manly" forum administrator(who actually could be a female) remove my posts and ban me from the forums for inappropriate user bashing(my real point in debating your initial slanders towards myself and others). Missed your garage pics, so I'll scroll back and check them out.

Yeah, right. That'll be the day when my wife says I can't watch TV. And there's 2 more flatscreens in the house, other than the family room-the bedroom and the home theatre. I'm putting one in the garage because I just happen to have an extra that's in my previous house. I'm not at home so I don't have a pic to post of my garage but it's one of my favorite places to be. It's a detached 10x40, not the biggest in the world but it's fine for my stuff. Plus the attic area is completely open so all the junk I don't want to look at can live up there (decorations, etc.). No tv out there but I like the quiet. Right now it's full of firewood for the winter, about 4 chords worth so not a lot of free space. Right now i have 7 mowers, 1 edger and 2 weedeaters so the wood has to live somewhere else starting next year. No breathing room now. Our house is small so I like to go there to sort of escape, even if for just a little while.

You have way to many lawnmowers,...2 ought to be enough

I store the winters supply of firewood (7 full cords) in the garage attached to the house, that way i don't have to go outside in the cold to get it.
Still plenty room left for the wife's truck.

One can never have to many mowers.
I lost count but I have 6 riding and 2 push mowers sitting in the driveway all run and cut. Maybe I will sell them or maybe the will go to the back yard. But I am sure I will pick al least one more up this week.

I have no 2 that are the same.

Hey man that's nothing to be ashamed of at least you get there...keep at it and one day you'all have that truck and hopefully it's a F-150 ;)

No, I'm not jealous just about at the end of my rope with trying to juggle 2 houses and not wanting to. Sorry for the blowup, things haven't been going well lately. But...life itself is better than the alternative.

Wife is handicapped. Once I set her up with her TV or computer, if she and I decide she don't need me for a while, I may go to one of the others or to the garage. With a TV in there, especially if there is a hockey game on, I can work AND keep up with the Red Wings. Especially since it'll be an "extra." She can call me in the garage on the intercom.

The one in the bedroom is for her as well. When we go to bed, she needs to have it on for a few hours before she can sleep. Doesn't bother me, so I don't mind-usually don't even know when she turns it off.

I'm sorry to hear about your wife and your troubles, i would have reacted differently had i known that and the reasons for the 4 TV's.
Hope you can sort it all out.

most "music" these days
He hasn't made any new music. His music is 20-40 years old. I listened to him when I was 15-16. Back when there was were juke boxes.
I would go to a small delicatessen on a Saturday morning have them make me sandwich and throw a quarter in the box and listen to Crocodile rock, Daniel, Tiny Dancer and Rocket man..That song is 40 years old....

That guy has skills, he dominates a keyboard and he sings in 3 octaves. He has played the largest venues in the world...everywhere. He studied at the Royal Academy of music in London.

Saw him at the Olympia in the early 70s. Kiki Dee opened for him. The concert was the entire Yellow Brick Road album, his best, along with the earlier Your Song, and The Bitch is Back from the then upcoming album, Caribou. One of the greatest concerts I've ever seen.

It's getting late, have you seen my mates?

It's seven o'clock and I wanna rock

It was about 400$ or less brand new. Husky is not a high dollar brand, it's the store brand.
Here is a comparable box....40" 10 drawer but it's one unit instead of two.
Not saying it's not a very adequate tool box for the home owner/hobbyist.......

Yea I use a tracked Honda (kind of hard to put chains on) could screw studs into the tracks for ice like we used to do for racing snowmobiles. But in all seriousness a few years ago I ran chains on all four wheels on my Bobcat. It does make day and night difference weather you live in a hilly or flat terrain.

Hey, I know this thread has been a little dead for awhile, but I thought I would do a little update. Although I have managed to fit my new-to-me truck in our garage, it's just as messy, if not messier. I do know where most of my tools and things are, which is a plus, but it is still an obstacle course to get anywhere. I can't wait till our neighborhood garage sale, I'm just gonna try and clear out whatever I can. I'll try and post a picture tomorrow, it's too late now.
