I know I;ve done exactly that more than once. if these carbs can't be rebuilt why are there lots of rebuild kits on the market?
Depends on the carb failure. If you just had bad diaphragms the kit would fix it fine.

try a compression test that's an older trimmer, if its below 100psi, you might need a ring and seals,when you take the carb off shine a flashlight in the throat and look for scratches,same with the muffler side

is there not a screw that holds the little pin for the needle valve ...Post a pic man

hi, there is a screw. but taking the screw out allows acess to the needle valve. the needle valve seat is not serviceable.
