Update: Went out this am, turned key...heard very faint click every time ignition was engaged.
Is this the solenoid in question?

The cylinders are not getting fuel. Could the main jet be plugged?

In the am I’m going to try the carb cleaner suggestion to see if I can keep it running. I’m also going to remove the solenoid and replace it with the recommended bolt. I’m sure this is something simple. I recently had the alternator on this machine replaced by a friend who runs the most highly regarded small engine repair service in our area. At that time he gave it a complete and thorough tune up. It had been running like new until two days ago. Of course, I could just be the eternal optimist?

Shot it with carb cleaner this am. After about the fifth shot it continued to run.
Squirted it a few more times while running, then I shut it down and put it back together.
Started up again normally. Going to add some Sta-BIL carb cleaner to the gas.
But, I think it’s good to go.
Thanks for all the assistance.

Pull the float bowl off one last time to see if some crud has accumulated in it.
Not uncommon to have to cean a carb multiple times before they come good.
