Disclaimer- I have never, nor will I ever, use Common Core Math.

A British comedy show has a woman who has degrees in Advanced Theoretical Mathematics, Quantum Mechanics & other areas and when she mentioned a show with 'smart' kids "using some kind of magic Maths", she said one 11 year old couldn't subtract 499 from 500 and get the correct answer. I went to a sandwich shop and the cashier couldn't make 40 cents change. She was close, but I needed to say "One of each, no pennies". Two days ago, the cashier couldn't make the correct change using the quarters in the drawer- picked one up and put it back, so they could use dimes.
