That's a nice machine and that's a good engine :)
It cuts great. I changed the oil a couple of times and it pretty much stopped smoking. Somebody had turned it up wrong way and got oil all in places it shouldn't be. Also think the guy left it outside and got some water in the oil.
It wouldn't prime so I put a carb kit on it. Still won't prime. I really thought that new gasket between the air filter and the carb would do the trick. There was no gasket there before. The bulb is the only other possibility and I don't see anything wrong with it.

Everyone wants the Suzuki 2stroke.... Nog everyone gets it. Yes that's a briggs gts I think its an older quantum engine. Carb probably needs cleaned, new plug, oil, air filter. Check valve adjustments. It run like new forever if you take care of it. As for the trans start with the cable. See if its adjustable if so try to adjust it, then check belt might be worn. Still having issues check drive gears on axle and wheels see if they are worn still have issues crack it open check for metal shavings and obvious damage repack with grease. That deck is a good one and the engine has plenty of power :) the weak spot on those mowers are the trans
I know where to get one of those Suzuki Toros... but I have to buy a bunch of other stuff with it.
This one seems okay now except for that priming thing I mentioned. I'll check the valves if I have time... I think you're right about needing an adjustment.

No it was just a little to far.
And trying to get 12 yards done today
Can't get 'em all. 12 in one day? I was thinking you worked alone.

I don't know if it qualifies as a deal but I picked up a John Deere SST16 Sunday. The hood is missing but that seems to be the way a lot of SSTs are. Must have been a fragile part.
Works perfectly as far as I can tell. I'm going to take a close look at everything when the weather clears up. Not sure what I'm going to do with it :confused2: I mowed my friends front yard with it when I got it off the truck. I will not be putting it on the truck again.
Getting it off the truck was a pain. Getting it on the truck when I bought it was a pain. No pics yet... been raining and cold since I mowed that yard. Paid 400.

I am not a JD fan so there is no such thing as a good deal on a JD.

$400 for a mower that runs and cuts grass without needing any work is a good deal.
John Deere is a good mower to make money on if you don't have to buy parts for it.

Bad experiences with JD? I haven't owned any mower long enough or been impressed enough to become a fan of any brand. I'm pretty crazy about that exmark 21 tho. I did have that JD JS63 I bought for 10 bux. That thing would mulch grass like crazy.
I had a few reasons for wanting this. Cheap way to try out a zreo turn. And I'd seen vids of it cutting grass like a winner. And this one runs great and everything works. I've read all the bad stories about it. It's too complicated and the parts are expensive and the steering takes some practice. I probably won't have it long but we'll see. I know I like it better than the BOP 36. If a twin hydro WB comes up cheap I think that might what I'd really like. I'd love to have a pro ZTR but deals like that Toro last week don't come up often. One thing I can say for sure about the SST. I need a trailer if I want to go out mowing with it. The seller helped me load up and he had good humped ramps and it was still tricky. The front wheels have a mind of their own. It fell once but it fell just right resting on one of the ramps and we were able to lift the front and straighten it out. Had to ease it down and take it out to the road where there was a good incline to get it on my truck. I had to use a lot of improvising to get it off the truck when I got home. I got a neighbor who's always there when he needs me but not the other way round ;)

Has the. Original briggs 16 hp twin side shaft.

What do you think he is asking for it?

What was he asking?
I got a deal yesterday. A guy called me and asked if I was still looking for old mower. He had a craftsman and a Honda Harmony 215 like the one I just sold. Free and a 5 minute drive away. Deal :)
