I GO THRU ONE EVERY 1.5 YRS OR SO AND WHEN I NEED ONE I CANT FIND ONE CAUSE THE

WAREHOUSE WHERE I BOUGHT THE FIRST ONE CLOSED THEIR DOORS AND WENT OUT OF BUSINESS.

HOME DEPOT IS A JOKE... THE LOCAL CUB CADET DEALER BLOWS YOUR HEAD OFF EVERY TIME YOU BUY ONE FROM HIM...

IN SEARCH OF A LESS EXPENSIVE TIMING BELT THAN WHAT IS OFFERED ON EBAY. CONTACT ME BELOW IF YOU KNOW ANYONE.

Without the timed deck.
The timed deck on this and other mowers was a joke.

Remove timing belt idler pulleys so you can inspect bearings for wear, bearings are sealed type & should spin smoothly, if not smooth replace idler pulleys, bearings come installed.
Error click anyway, Also inspect timing pulley & timing pulley plate as well as all hardware making sure everything is tight & secure.

OK , there must be somthing wrong happening here.
While I have no direct experience with this model, 1.5 years for a belt = a major problem some where.
If there was design fault on the mower MTD generally dumps them down here cause Aussies are stupid & none of them know how to use Google.
So what exactly do you mean by "go through".
I service a lot of the Stiga, Husqvarna & Jonshoreds with timmed belts and I have never replaced one to date even after the blades have crashed into each other and near cut each other in 1/2.

This was a bad bad bad set up.
Cub cadet did recall the problem.
Big problem was the blades hitting each other.

OK,
Had a good look at the parts book.
No shear pin on the blades that I could see.
And looks like they used a single tensioning arm & spring for both the PTO belt & the timmed deck belt, is that correct ?

Even worse I have been doing some thinking.
There is a thing called a composite bar, basically a short bar that replaces the blade and has a hole at each end for fitting swingback blades to it.
So if your deck is continually getting out of time, swing backs will be a good work around as they will still hit each outher and make a hell of a racket, but they will swing back so not destroy the belt.
and before you think of thoes tiny blades on a push mower, ride on swing backs are 3 to 6 mm thick and about 1/2 to 1/3 the price of a full bar blade.
