YTH 20B42 (960430032-00) - Husqvarna​

I am looking for the fuel tank Grommet /bushing. I see there are a couple that look exactly the same. I ordered one that the part number ends in 645, but that one started leaking after 3 weeks. I am not sure if that is the wrong part or it leaked because I bought a generic one.

Well first don't keep the damn part number that you ordered a secret. Yes I am getting irritated at posters keeping things secret like we are going to steal their mowers.

Plus what tank hole size as here Husqvarna IPL don't list a tank grommet (bushing)? I fairly sure which bushing fits the 599306002 tank but need verify the hole size.

I have been on chat with Husqvarna and they said they don't sell the grommet separate and I should buy a new gas tank ($120). the part number they gave me for the gas tank is

The part number for the fuel tank is 532 40 74-89 and has a superseded part number 581290101.​

my old grommet has the number 224 on it.
I don't have the 599306002 tank.

How is the hole sized measured? across? in MM or inches?

Then the site I looked up the YTH20B42 has the wrong info listed apparently.

As for the 532003645 bushing it is for a 1/2" /13MM hole. The bushing should have 9/16" (.56) OD where it goes into the tank.

And these are all the crosses that I know of for this Grommet / Bushing


And yes I know the tank has been superseded.

And it is listed under $100. I paid $XX that last time I brought one but it has gone up a little. Not telling my cost on this as it is non public info.

Everything seems correct. I ordered an OEM grommet, the one that ends 645. Maybe the generic one uses cheap rubber. The old one is much harder then the generic one.

I am not supposed to use some kind of sealant am I?

No just some Vaseline or oil to lube it so things goes together easier and not tear.

No but a bit of rubber grease ( the red stuff ) will make it easier to fit and reduce the chance of damage to either the grommet or tank

ok, so here is what I got. I am not so sure the new OEM grommet is going to work. I measured these with a caliper so they are right.
my hole is 14mm wide
the stem is 10mm wide
the grommet outside dim is 13.5 mm wide


So when I put the stem in the grommet its only around 14mm or 14.5 where it flares out.
It's probably going to leak again. hopefully the OEM grommet is a little bigger, we will see.

Is there a sealant I can use that will stand up to gas?

this is throwing me. the stem is 10mm wide the grommet where the stem goes is 3mm thick, so if the stem is inserted into the grommet its 16mm wide, so on paper is should work. but the rubber is soft and it compresses too much.
