broken governor on Kohler engine

have a John deere lt110 with a 20 hp Kohler engine, the governor has blown out and a piece of metal got lodged against the back of motor and cracked it, I have corrected the crack with JB WELD and now need a governor to install, what I need to know is how do you time the engine as one cam gear came off with the lid when I removed the lid, got the governnor and now just want to make sure its timed before putting the engine back into service, thanks

Take the numbers to the Kohler web site and you will find that Kohler has very good service manuals which will walk you through setting the timing. I am going to guess that you will find timing marks on gears which the service manual will show you.
