Yes, but I also asked for the code so I could date the engine. How he installed the diaphragm and gasket, order is critical. Did he have the pump spring and was it installed correctly. First he says the primer bulb is good, then he says he repaved the primer bulb, it was worn out. Also asked if he had a manual. He assumes he knows how a carb works, but is just guessing and looking for a quick answer, which I can't give with the info provided.

I understand that most of your questions had gone unanswered. I was hoping to defuse the situation and get more answers for you so we could get him fixed.

Check the inlet mainfold.
They can come loose.
There is an O ring in the carb end that gets worn or lost completely.
The induction tube is quite long and prone to cracking.
There is a gasket on the engine end that can leak
Gorillars with spanners do it up too tight and strip the threads or break off the mounting tabs.
There are several different induction tubes that all look similar but some will not make a proper seal.

This and several other things can make the engine run lean and produce the problems you have listed.

Please remember you are there & we are here.
you are our eyes & ears so using terms like "worn out" means nothing to us.
Respond as if you were explaining what you see to a child or a blind person thus reducing the chance of misunderstandings.
We need to know exactly what you SEE not how you have evaluated what you saw.
Some memebers are in the trade and need details to check refference materials.
This might seem trivial to you but is important to us who are remote from the engine.

Don't get one of those black plastic replacement kits off ebay. This might be a simple carb, but they couldn't make one that worked.
