Most are just a chip about the size of a micro SD card
The circuitry is all over the web if you are curious, just search for Hall effect trigger circuits
Very simple .
Any 1/2 decient repair workshop ( not a big glass front showroom ) should be able to test them for you, about 1/2 hour tops so should not be expensive .
