Best way to sell my Poulan tractor mower?

Now that I've bought a new tractor mower, any suggestions as to how to easily sell my Poulan tractor mower?

Not sure what year it is. I bought it used myself for $450 about 2 years ago and had it overhauled for another $450 after a year of letting my tenants use it to mow 2 very rough acres of land - which they made very nice and mowable in the process of nearly ruining my mower. Fair trade off since I now live on that property and enjoy mowing the yard.

I just want a couple of hundred dollars for this mower now. It still cranks right up and I just mowed about an acre on the 4th with it. I need to install a mandrel shaft to replace one that somehow had the star pattern all mashed up. I have the new shaft - just need to get that top nut off and that's going to be a bear.

Okay.. sorry.. rambling again. lol

Any suggestions to easily, quickly sell something like this for about $250? Not trying to make any money here.

Thanks for any ideas. Houston/Katy area BTW if you're interested...

Whoops.

If it helps, this mower has a 16.5 hp B&S engine that cranks right up and runs smooth and powerful. It is a 2 blade 42" deck. Headlights work.

Craigslist or a local buy sell Facebook page

Yeah, I will wind up doing one or both if need be. Just wondering if there is a short cut like selling it to a mower repair shop for parts... and/or to be refurbished. It really wouldn't take much to make this all the way solid again.

Would it be worth my while to call some local mower repair shops?

A shop at best will give $50

Probably so. I'll probably wind up going with Craigslist and ask $250, take $200. Someone will still get a couple of good seasons of mowing out of it.

Keep it as a back up. Lord knows we don't have enough mowers!!!

If you live on a busy street, do it the old fashioned way by parking it in your front yard with one of these attached to it.

Welper, I just listed it on Craigslist with 2 photos for $350. Why totally give it away right? Still a great price.

Fortunately my street is very slow.

I tried convincing my wife it would be good as a backup mower and/or to handle the tougher areas of our property to help preserve and extend the life of the new mower. But we did just buy a bran new Husqvarna self-propelled walk behind for trimming... and as backup if our rider must be in the shop. Also - she kept back $200 when writing me a check to cover the new Lowes credit card account I opened to save the 5% with - thus kind of forcing me to sell... lol.

I will have a look at the Private Party ads forum.

I mowed my back and side yards today (about an acre total) with the new Husqvarna YTH24K46 and WOW! I just blazed through that high grass and weeds and must have finished in easily half the time! Anyway... that's for another new thread soon.

You should get that easily.

Great send a pic of it when you get a chance so we can see it. Thanks

Yeah that's a good price! Your mower might not be in as good of shape as some of these, but they are listed for a higher price, so whoever buys it will get a great deal!

And I understand your mower might not be a Poulan PRO.

Yeah, I think I listed a good price at $350. Here's the link to my Craiglist post. HERE

And here are a couple of shots of the new kid on the block, just before putting about 1.2 hours of service on her.

Such an upgrade! What a pleasure it was today tearing through my tall weeds and whacky multi-specied fast growing country grass! Loved throttling that thing up and flying through the thick parts without slowing down!

Woot!

Sooooooooold to an Americannnnn....

Just slightly over 24 hours in Craigslist and I have cash in hand $350, no haggle, no fuss, no muss. The buyer was very happy. I helped load it in his truck and off they drove into the sunset.

That was my very first experience as a seller on Craigslist. Come to think of it, that very mower I sold was the very first and only thing I've ever bought on Craigslist! So I am happy to know that Craigslist is such a viable way to sell!

Thanks for all the suggestions folks!

Indeed. Now I can focus on maintaining and servicing the Husqvarna "Beast"! Make that Husqvarnas... I mustn't overlook the very recently acquired little brother HU775H 127cc 22" self-propelled walk behind for trimming and small jobs around the "ranch". So I have two brand new Husqvarnas to raise! Yes, I'm quickly becoming a lawn mower geek. I need to vent this new found geek enthusiasm in the Husqvarna group next! lol
