We have an almost new John Deere D100. My husband must have hit a stump, because the shaft of driver for one blade is bent. Our dealer says we have to replace the entire mower deck for $500.
Can we just buy the spindle? (I see it on the blowup in the parts catalog, but I cannot figure out how to order it.)
I can think of a few words for the guy that wants you to buy a new deck... You might ask him if he also suggests replacing the deck when the blades need sharpened...
If the deck is not damaged, don't replace it...
Also you need to find a different dealer, if he told you this based on you wanting to buy a replacement spindle... :smile:KennyV

You need a new dealer for sure. KennyV is right you should be able to buy any part you need for the deck. John Deere is very good about looking up parts and you should be able to look up the part numbers on line. You will need the model and serial off the tractor.

Not only do you need a new dealer ----- See if you can find a regional manager and tell them about this rip off artist representing Deere. Check out the Deere web site and see who you can contact.
Good Luck !
