Re: I did buy the Honda

Yep as I said if the price is right its worth a gamble sometimes.
If the fiberglass works and the trimmer/edger sells for $50 I'll be happy enough. Curious... are the Honda variable speed mowers faster than the 2 and 3 speeds?

I know my older 3 speed Honda only goes up to 3 mph (if that anymore), but my newer Honda HRX with hydrostatic cruise control, along with all the HRX models, can go up to 4 mph. All of the HRR's with variable speed can go up to the same speed, around 4 mph....some 3.6.

Comparison:
Honda Power Equipment: Honda Generators, Lawn Mowers, Snow blowers, Tillers

the other Honda needs wheelie bars

I put a new transmission cable and pinion gears and wheels on it. It's a speed demon ;) The wheels won't roll backwards tho. I'll have to double check to see what I did wrong.

Thanks buddy. I'm pretty sure you aren't talking about the top part. I've tried adjustments at the cable tension lock point near the lever.
Is there something on the transmission end? A return spring or something that could be stuck?

Not sure how it is made on your mower, but on mine, in order to back up, if I let go of the bail it backs up. A spring desengages the tranny. If that spring is broken, the wheels jam up. Also, I have a spring tensioner on top to adjust the speeds and if it will back up.
