How would you go about making a 4 wheel drive lawnmower?

Anything is possible with enough skills, tools and money. I would say the best and cheapest way would be buy a used or new 4X4 garden tractor.

What about getting front and rear differentials off an ATV but how would I go about powering them?

Just get a ATV frame and put the mower body on it like every one else.
It can be done but by the time you get it done all that will be left of your Murray will be the body and parts of the frame

Lots of cutting and a whole lot of welding
It is a ATV frame with a mower sitting on top of it.
If you want something to play in the mud with the Murray is a good start it has the best built frame of any riding mower. Go on you tube and search FEARLESSFRONT. look at Murray build there are steps to the whole build from pulleys to a better clutch.
