You could also add a fuel shutoff. Also, verify that your anti backfire solenoid is working.

Get a rebuild kit for the carb or buy an aftermarket and swap all the new parts onto the old shell except the jets. Also, please don't post 2 threads, you won't get more answers.

    21HP V-Twin Head Gasket Repair

You shouldn't have to rebuild it unless you have low compression on one side. It sounds like it could be a bent pushrod or valves need adjusted. A top end refresh is smart tho. Could only be a carb.

I would get a parts mower with a 44 engine

    Need Advise on Rebuilding a B&S 22 V-Twin

That would be perfect but you have to measure your pto shaft. What's your Husqvarna model? Deck size? If you want to buy a $700 engine, go ahead, but I would assess your riding mower's value. Is it worth putting an expensive engine in?

    Need Advise on Rebuilding a B&S 22 V-Twin

You should get a 44 series Briggs. Very common but very good. Your engine has a 40xxxx model, so its a 40 series. You want a 44 series with a 44xxxx model number. Make sure the shaft size is the same.

    Need Advise on Rebuilding a B&S 22 V-Twin

Yeah, the fact that it's an "Intek" series engine explains everything. Avoid getting an intek replacement engine.

    Need Advise on Rebuilding a B&S 22 V-Twin

I would say since the block is damaged that it is not WORTH because parts will cost you the same as a used engine. I would junk the engine but keep the good parts especially the carb.

    21HP V-Twin Head Gasket Repair

IKR, the vtwins with open exhaust sound like motorcycles. IMO any engine is better than a single cylinder for a racing mower. Vtwins are also wildly reliable most of the time.

    21HP V-Twin Head Gasket Repair

Also, there's nothing wrong with Briggs v-twins, but if I was making a racing Mower, I would prefer a Briggs opposed twin. Basically the "indestructible inline 6" of mowers
  19. Craftsman Garage

    21HP V-Twin Head Gasket Repair

No, the engine could go up to 7k if you wanted it to. It's an internal part of the transmission. It would probably be easier to swap in a manual.

    21HP V-Twin Head Gasket Repair

So, I have reused head bolts many times and never had any lssues. I also didn't torque them down and didn't have issues lol. I would pull out a bolt or two and if they're really Rusty or corroded, etc, then replace them. Otherwise, I wouldn't replace them. BTW, Welcome to the forum!

    Parts for old mower engine

Why do you need a new cylinder, counterweight, and crankshaft? Unless they are damaged or out of spec, you should reuse these parts. No reason to replace them.

    I have declared WAR.

In the past year, I've lost 2 chickens. One to a hawk and one to a possum. What nasty little things. I had to install a trap door on my coop. I open it in the morning and close it at night. No deaths since.
