Thus is actually a collector's piece. Made in Hunter Ohio and very few made. I got this thing running for a guy and he takes to shows. He loaned it to an Fwit for his kid to drive in a parade. He left it out in a monsoon rain and water went down the shift lever and filled the trans with water...
1965 Work Bird with Wisconsin engine. Been sitting for years. Controls rusted up. No spark. Gas left in carb. Plus the 50 other things i will find when I dig into it
Almost finished with my trash picked little deere. New tires, carb, starter, seat, fuel pump, air filter, battery, labels and rattle can paint job. Steering gear and spindles were seized, brake was seized, mouse nest in engine cowl.
Rescued from going to the dump. Front spindles and steering gear froze. Got that fixed so I thing I am going restore it and put in the town farm day parade. Have to see if I have the smallest JD tractor.
Fan was so tight on the crankshaft that the piston stop put a hole in the top of the piston. Took a 2ft long breaker bar and a lot of a$$ to break it loose.
Tried to contact my toolaholic anonymous sponsor but didn't answer so I fell off the wagon again. Already have a 5 gallon one but that one is kinda awkward to use.
I just noticed on carded NGK plugs they have some brands crossed to their plug. My boxed ones don't have it. Funny the cross to Torch plugs. These came from Stens
These 2 filters are the same. The one came off a kohler command 18 that had the entire intake screen completely plugged with dandelion seed. He mowed 2 acres of 10" tall grass and the mower started leaking oil out of the PTO seal. I have never seen an engine so hot that it cooked the label on...
Shock mount in front of spark plugs so that once you break the plugs loose you can't use a socket to get them all the way out. After 2 turns you can barely get the socket off and finger the plugs out. If they aren't tight. I'll bet the engineers used to work for Chrysler.
Brand new log splitter won't run. A guy's daughter bought it for him for his birthday and hauled it a hundred miles to him. The "Kohler" engine is a chonda clone. Pulled the carb and it is identical to a $15 Ebay carb down to the markings. Nothing against the clones as they run fine. I wonder...
Some people think that folks here are being jerks when they are continually asking for specifics about a piece of equipment after a poster looking for help says i have a XYZ brand (whatever is on the hood) model mower. Here are pics of 2 Troy-Bilt Tuffy garden tillers. Although similar there are...
Customer brings in a troy bilt tuffy tiller with 4 hp Briggs. The usual, won't start and only runs on starter fluid. So i toss the carb in the ultrasonic and then installed new fuel pump diaphragm and tank gasket. Aaaaaaaand the same problem. Seems the fuel cup never filled. Changed the spring...
Just spent the day bringing this very neglected 1978 Power King back to life. All the wiring butchered. Rewired entire tractor plus all the stuff that is supposed to turn, slide or move that doesn't.
JD Z245. This is one season on these blades. Guy lives on a farm. I just finished scraping still wet grass from last season out od the deck. It was packed so bad the grass was down to the blades. Had to use a pry bar to get most of it out.
Was at my JD dealer i get parts from today. Parts guy told me instead of 2 days for parts they are lucky to get them in 2 weeks and sometimes 3. Their commercial customers and having fits he said.
Stens sells both of these head gaskets and they have the same dimensions. Looking for someone smarter than me. Shouldn't be that hard. Are they interchangeable? Does one supersede the other? Different year model engines? The 465-043 is like the old L head engine gaskets. Looks like it would be...
Had a tough one in the shop this week. Mid '90s White/MTD rider. Blade electric clutch won't engage. Zip tie failed and headlight wiring fell against muffler and burned it up. One of fhe ground connections for the clutch circuit goes through the headlight wiring. Clutch uses 2 relays for a hold...
A guy calls me a couple days ago and asks if i can come look at his 1954 Ford 901 tractor. He had a tractor dealer send out a guy to do a full tuneup on the tractor. He said the guy has worked on it for 3 days trying to get the ignition to work. No spark after new plugs, wires, cap and rotor...
Customer brings in craftsman mower with tecumseh engine. Says it has run like crap since the day he bought it. It finally won't start. Look close at the valves. Had to clean a crap load of carbon off to see it. Valve is not bent and seat is not loose and stem tight in the guide. Customer said...
Checked a bunch of vendors for a part. Only place i found it showing in stock was a vendor i don't really like ordering from but they had it in stock. 5 days after i order i get an email today that they expect the part to arrive from the vendor 8/18. You would think i would learn.
Well i broke my own rule. Customer brought in .mower and said it ran fine just sat for a year or so with gas in it. Opened the tank and sure enough rotten gas. Pulled carb and cleaned and rebuilt it, new fuel line and cleaned out the tank. Went to start it.
Well crap no compression. Never take...
