Looking for good tube brand or type

You certainly know how to challenge yourself. I've no idea why a 2 piece wheel / rim isn't made for a tubed tire but they aren't to my knowledge. That would be too simple I suspect. Through the years I've learned that a floor model drill press works well to hold small wheels. For starters, the...

    grasshopper 329B blade bolt

You are mowing in one of the worst conditions possible and when a blade hits a correct object the blade momentarily stops and loosens the cap screw never to be tightened unless you stop and tighten it. If the cap screw looks anything but pristine condition I would replace it.

You're Welcome Just glad i could assist. Been there done that for a neighbor. MTD Yard Machines 7 Speed Model 13bn771g729 HELP!

This variable sheave is notorious for causing problems. As the speed control is moved from lowest to highest speeds ( without touching the clutch ) the center portion of this variable sheave should react by moving up or down to change ratios.

    Mowing in Reverse

Due to mowing conditions, I do a lot of reverse travel and the mow in reverse safety becomes a nuisance. When safety is NOT a concern at SandburRanch I've found a simple temporary over ride on the X350 for the mow in reverse button. Not disconnecting any wires it can be accomplished from the...

Pull the sheathing out, clean the cable and the interior of the crimp material well, apply JB weld and insert it back in leaving it for 12 hours. Before using spray the cable sheath full length with your favorite lubricant.

    Stihl BR 400 won't start

Sure you have a spark tester. While it's dark remove the spark plug, ground it on the head and crank it to see if it has spark. You also have a compression tester. Place your thumb or finger firmly on the spark plug hole and have a helper pull the rope. If it has enough compression to start you...

    starting 17.5 B & S

If you can find a Amp meter similar to this almost antique meter and place it on the + starter cable when attempting to crank it will tell you a story. Could be the battery at fault or a rarity for a new engine, valve lash out of specifications, and a few other possibilities.

    Mandrels

If the spacer is longer than the bearing outer race seat to seat distance, and every one i've checked is, when both bearings are pressed in until the outer races bottoms, the bearing won't last very long at all. Maybe a season, maybe days or maybe hours but sure failure is just around the corner.

Brand new HRX217 takes multiple pulls to start when cold. Is this normal?

You're fortunate. I bought a new honda generator and after about 2 hours of operation I had to spend 200 at a dealer to get the carb cleaned. No warranty. I filter my FRESH gas through a 226 micron filter when filling the tank. The only sure way I've found an engine will start cold on the 1st...

rear riding mower tires rusted on and stuck, won't budge

I drilled a hole and split the hub with a sawsall directly on top of the key and drove a wedge both inboard and outboard to spread the hub. It mows grass just as well like that as it did previous to that surgery procedure.
