    Zero Turn front tire issue

Anybody else have the problem that your left front tire on a zero turn mower shreds for no apparent reason? This happened to two tube-type tires in the sidewall. I don't see any interference with the yoke. I replaced the tube-type tires with no-flat wheels, but they make for a very rough...

Can I change an 11" tire?

Okay thanks folks, you definitely talked me out of it. I am going to try a " no flat" tire and wheel combo. It's $40 from eBay.

Can I change an 11" tire?

The front tire on my zero turn mower is toast - side wall is ripped. It is 11" x 4.00 - 5". I have changed dozens of bike tires, but never on a lawn tractor. My friendly local garage will change it for about $20, but adding in the cost of tire and tube, I might as well buy a whole new wheel...

    String Trimmer Compression

My string trimmer is a Toro Model 51934. I also have a two cycle mower of 1980's vintage that also has compression of 45 psi and it runs just fine. Why the difference? I can't rule out the possibility that my gauge is bad, I suppose.

    String Trimmer Compression

What is the compression on a new two cycle string trimmer? What is the lowest compression where it will still run? The compression on mine is 45 psi, trying to determine how much life is left in the old gal

    Mower Humor

I don't have a picture, just a story. I do the "trim" mowing with a steel deck Snapper from the 1990's. The mower is so heavy that it takes two of us to lift it into the car if we need to bring it somewhere. I was away on a business trip, so my wife decided to cut the grass. Later, she...

    Two cycle engine?

It's a Tecumseh. I only use this mower to do this hill (about 30 minutes each week) so hopefully it will last a good bit longer.

    Two cycle engine?

Yes I thought as much, emissions regulations. Guess I won't worry about it until this engine craters.

    Two cycle engine?

Does anyone make two cycle lawnmower engines any more? I have a two cycle Snapper that I inherited from my dad which I believe is 1980's vintage. I use it to mow a hill on the side of my yard that is at about a 30 to 45 degree angle and about 100 yards long. When I used a four cycle mower...

    Jack's Small Engine Parts

I got an email from them a couple of weeks ago saying that they were being aquired by Grizzly. They have been my go-to place for parts, especially for older mowers. Does anyone have any insight on how this will affect their business? I have a couple of Snapper mowers from the twentieth...

MTD Yardwork mower kick back , is flywheel key damaged ?

I just discovered this thread. I had the same thing happen on my mower. Broke two adapter bushings. Everyone told me that I was crazy, couldn't possibly be seeing what I was seeing. Each time it happened the flywheel shear pin was broken as well. The blade did NOT hit anything, whatever was...

    Broken Blade Bushing

I have a replacement B&S engine that has managed to break two bushings that hold the blade to the crankshaft. What happened is that engine would start making a clanking noise, and the blade would fall off. I would discover that the bushing was broken and the flywheel key was sheared. Last...

    Stabil for Gasoline Storage?

How does this stuff work for gasoline storage? In addition to storing gas over the winter, we have to store gas for generators due to our unreliable power grid. How long is Stabil good for, and is there a better product to use?

    Gas Storage?

Apologies if this topic has been beat to death, but here goes. We store gas over the winter plus we keep an inventory for our generators due to our unreliable power grid. How long does Stabil keep gasoline fresh? Is there another product that works better?

    Sears Torque Wrench?

Sorry if this post is not exactly on topic, but I ran into this issue while working on a lawnmower engine. I pulled out my Sears Craftsman micradjusting torque wrench (makes a click when you hit the right torque) and it was totally jammed - would not click and the adjusting handle would not...

    Crankshaft End Play?

Me again, still trying to diagnose my B&S 190 cc single cylinder engine that makes a clanking noise while running. The only observation of a potential problem observed so far is that the crankshaft has slight but noticeable end play. It can be moved up and down maybe 5 to 10 thousands of an...

How to Check for a Spun Bearing?

I have a Snapper mower with a 190cc single cylinder engine. It makes a clanging sound while running, and has sheared the flywheel key and actually broken the bushing that holds the blade. My suspicion is a spun connecting rod bearing. Is there any way to check this without tearing down the...

    Flywheel Key Shearing

I have a Model 850 Briggs & Stratton single cylinder engine (190 cc I believe) that keeps shearing the flywheel key for no apparent reason. Is it possible that I am not tightening the flywheel nut enough, and it's working itself loose somehow? I haven't used a torque wrench on it yet.

    Snapper Hi-Vac Engine Issue

I have a 90's vintage Snapper Hi-Vac self propelled walk behind mower. When the original Tecumseh engine died, I replaced it with a Briggs & Stratton 190cc 8.5 foot pound torque engine. All went well for three years kuntil I replaced the drive belts. After that, it made noises like a severe...
