Pull the valve cover off and make sure the valves are working properly. Have seen timing gears get broken when something is hit really hard.

Great little mower. Make sure the actuating lever is contacting the brake switch.

I have had Kohler fix the courage single engine with a short block five years down the road. Also fixed several within the warranty time. It was not a bad engine once they got the problem fixed. Just had someone give me a Husqvarna with a busted block but have a good block to fix it with, I hope.

Kohler Command is one of the best engines ever built. The Command single is the best single cylinder engine ever made. Too bad they quit making them. I understand why too costly to build and compete in the market today.

Most of those mowers had a Kohler engine. Get the Engine no. and look it up that way.

I got one once that had no needle or bowl gasket.

Briggs said years ago to clean the shaft and inside of the drive that goes over the shaft. clean the body of the clutch but add no oil. As it is used the oil will gum up and make the ball stick to the outside and not engage center section. They recommended a light synthetic oil for the shaft.

Older D/C had Sundstrand pumps. Sundstrand was bought out by hydro gear. Newer D/C have Hydro Gear pumps.

I got an aftermarket carb once that when I tried to start it, it was flooding clamped off the fuel line and it started once I released clamp it died. Flooding took the carb off and disassembled it; it did not have an inlet needle or a bowl gasket. They did make it good though.

You are not getting enough fuel for some reason. Did you check the fuel lines from the fuel tank to the fuel pump? There is no adjust on the carb.
