    MSMA herbicide

Anyone on here use MSMA before? Have to say it doesn't play any games. Crab grass is all white and curly-cued up in one day. Dalisgrass is laying down like you threw hot acid on it. Again this is after one day. Only thing I don't like is the cap leaks when you try to shake it up. It has a...

    Mower Deck Maintenance

Don't buy anything from the store. Take your used motor oil and an old paint brush. Slather the underside of the deck. Park it on some weeds. There is no spray that will last especially in sandy soil. Keep her scraped down and do the used oil trick especially in the fall.

Mulching blades are not designed to have lift. Most mowers other than Snapper's have no lift with lift blades on.

Easiest way to check for spark and fuel on push mower

Easiest way is spray flammable juice into the carb. If the engine runs for a few seconds and dies, you have spark and a lack of fuel.
  15. S

    Using more than normal gas

If you have a fuel line connection with no clamp/s, fuel can slowly leak out and show no signs of leaking. Had a mower couldn't figure out where all the gas was going. Replaced fuel line and added clamps. Stopped that issue. Would top it off after mowing. Next mow she would be either dead...

    Using more than normal gas

Change the fuel line from tank to carb inlet. Make sure you have good clamps at every location.

Download the manual and read it cover to cover. Mower manual should show you how to adjust the bar.

    No start

Post up pictures here of the coil and kill wire which is a small black wire. Chances are could be a Chinese clone coil or simply defective. If you ground that small gauge wire, you get no spark.

8 inch stripe longer grass being left?

Mowers work better with certain blades. It's a deck and blade companionship deal. Deck height also comes into play. Guessing you are using the stock OEM blades? Just read again you replaced the blades. What blades did you put on? To me that picture looks like a low wet spot??? Is the deck...

    Dies - Choke Very Touchy

Best to move this to the Kawi section. Sounds like she is thirsty. Lack of fuel delivery. Should of tested your old filter first. Most likely needed a new one anyway. Zero surprise here. Been preaching to all to get the new style fuel can spouts. They keep more trash and water out of the can...

Can't find 30W oil anywhere in my area, or on line.

My wallymart has SuperTech off-road or highway SAE 30w at SG. Interesting yours is different. Maybe they have a new formulation as you stated?? Will have to check this one out. Thanks for the heads up.

Put down you juicebox and take a breath guy. Getting all fired up on a mower forum is pretty silly.
  28. S

    Briggs popping

Pull the valve cover and watch the valves move. Probably a push rod laying down on the job or a lean condition under high load. Lack of fuel delivery...... Do a leakdown test. Rocker arm loose.

Would love to see this "test". Please post it up here. Also please include what company published this "test". Current Supertech 30W is off-highway spec'd at an SG rating. Remember waaaay back in the day with flat tappet cams and lifters? Those were the SG days. Full of zddp zinc and...

    Dirt ingestion

I tried the wheel bearing grease trick. Not good for under hood temps in summer or mowers. Made a mess when the oil separated from the grease. Went full on 100% GE silicone caulk on a new filter. Air filter is now glued to the filter housing with zero chance of grit passing.
  32. S

    Dirt ingestion

Smart man. Seen the same thing. K&N's are the worst for anything off-road. Well on road as well. Had a 2016 suburban with a K&N. Pulled the filter to clean it once. All down the intake pipe was grit city. All that was heading right to the rings.

Toro Recycler sits Uneven/Wobbles when all wheels set to same height

Throw a 4x4 or floor jack under the low side. Stand on the high wheel side. Bend it back. Those cheap mowers use very thin sheet metal. Make sure you are on level surface. As mentioned, check the engine mounting bolts.

Sod several months old, now has several areas of "rusty blades". See picture.

Dump more water then. If you can't punch a screwdriver into the dirt, too dry. You seriously need to be looking at a minimum 40+ minutes per zone. 20 min 3x a week, from an irrigation system, is nothing. All brands are said to "save water' meaning throwing less water ON your grass. In 85F plus...

John Deer 304 and 390 series mower trouble UPDATE!

Please explain this one to us. How the fire do you clean a fuel line? Just install all new line from the tank to the carb. Why waste time cleaning what is probably a collapsed or failed internally piece of hose?

Can't find 30W oil anywhere in my area, or on line.

No it's not guy. It's a thin 10 grade with a ton of viscosity improvers to "act" like a 30w at 212F or 100C. This is apples to washing machines fella. A straight up 30 weight is much thicker than any 10w-blah blah. Plus it doesn't break down and require more oil as Briggs, Kawi, Kroller and...
