I’ve never seen a leaking cap cause the problem you described, but there’s always a chance. I suggest you use the mower as is, making sure the cap and gasket are tight. If you have no more problems, you’re in the clear.

You do know that the blades on your mower are timed and if your blade belt jumped during your repair process, which has happened to many of us, your chirping may be the blades hitting.

Sorry l‘ve got my units mixed up. Yours is shaft driven and I had one like that a few years ago where I found that the wheel drive assembly’s were so gummed up that the ratchet pawls could hardly move. Might what to start there. Again for my other post.

Before ordering any parts I would be checking to see if the deck belt is in good condition. If there is not enough tension on the belt or it is worn, it will allow the blades to spin due to a loss of resistance on the spindle pulleys.

The number one cause I’ve seen with these adapters is that people do not double check to make sure their blade is centered properly on the adapter and then it will not tighten properly. This will allow the blade to spin on the adapter and ruin the centering ears.

Front wheel’s should be nearly parallel and straight when the steering is centered . Toe out means the wheel is pointing out. Toe in means the wheels are pointing in. Adjusting the tie rods will change the position of the wheel.

Nothing goes in that hole. You need to adjust both tie rods, as I’ll bet your wheel have major toe out. Also check to make sure the sector plate bushing and steering shaft bushings are is in good condition. If they are worn or the teeth are worn the gears will jump.

Post the numbers from under the seat.

Those zerks need to be greased regularly with #2 multi purpose grease, not just once or twice a season. Like about once a month. Pump in enough grease to make sure you see grease freely coming out both the top and bottom, then wipe off the excess . This with keep the dirt out of the bushings.

You need the key in the run position and parking brake on for the unit to keep running. If the engine fails to start you may have a short some where in the wiring harness or a bad safety switch also.

Any good jumper wire will work. You will see a few sparks, you just touch the small terminal. If the starter engages and spins the engine remove the jumper and the starter should stop.

95% sure you have found your problem. An engine needs far less fuel to run properly, so your full carb at starting was probably clouding your thoughts about how to diagnose the problem. Finally, fuel filter only need to be 25% full for the system to work.

I use ethanol fuel in my Echo trimmer and have no problem. I do recommend using Opti-2 oil. Been doing this since I purchased it seven years ago and have never had a problem.

Personally I would go with the Simplicity. In this case I would put more emphasis on the dealer, than the unit. Always go with a dealer you have the most trust in, in case things happen down the road.
