Even though your engine has two pistons, the pistons are sold individually. So you need to order792023 which is a single piston. If you were replacing both you would need to order 2 pistons.

What the belt looks like after being damaged usually gives a clue to what is causing the problem.

I had a thought of fuel solenoid on the bottom of the carb. You should hear/feel it click when the key is turned from off to on. If you run it long enough to die and then turn off the keyswitch and back on, you should hear/feel it click. No clicking when hot could be the issue.

That mower is old enough to have the vented fuel cap. If the cap vent plugs can cause similar issues. Next time it acts up try loosening the fuel cap and see if it will start and run. If you are some place quiet and the fuel cap vent is plugged when you loosen it you may be able to hear it...

The thing with the wooden toothpick is the wood is not smooth so it captured the gunky debris in the jet in the fibers of the wood.

I have been lucky but no. Have broke one off in a jet. That was fun to get out.

Just as a side note. The OEM engine manufacturers recommend using a wooden tooth pick for cleaning the main jet. Just have to be careful that the end of the toothpick doesn't jam and break off in the jet.

Not really. With a little research you will find no matter the name on the battery most are made by one of 3 companies.

It probably is but if you have one of the toaster style load testers give it a go. Most are a 100 amp load, but the one that I purchased probably 20+ years ago is a 50 amp toaster style load tester. Nothing like watching a fully charged battery at 12.7 volts drop to 0 under load.

The 12.79 dropping to 7.8 when attempting to start would indicate a faulty battery. Take it to a local auto parts place for further load testing.

I think you have found the best method, and there are no drain plugs. Would be a good opportunity to check for metal contamination of the oil. Chucky metal in the oil which would indicate a failed drive motor would be a sign of what took out the pumps.

Here is something to consider. Are you using 5L30 automotive belts or 5L30 lawn and garden belts. Totally 2 different applications and the 2 are not interchangeable.

I would say since the oil was gone, and was seized up I would about gaurantee that the engine is toast.

I would either suspect the fuel pump is not working properly, which is a rare issue so don't look there first. Or there is a fuel flow restriction in the tank or fuel hose causing it to not flow enough fuel to supply demand.

Need to check fuel flow into the carb. Remove the fuel line from the carb and observe the flow of fuel coming out of the fuel line. If not a full stream then there is an obstruction preventing fuel flow. and could cause the issue that you have because it is burning fuel faster than it can...

If in the area of the blower housing could be the fan or fan screen rubbing on the housing itself. They can make a good racket sometimes when the happens.

Remove the valve covers and then turn the engine by hand and watch for the valves to open and close. Easier with the spark plugs removed.

Possible that something was hit that stalled the engine resulting in a sheared flywheel key.
