I am wondering if anyone has an opinion on what a good riding mower would be for my use. I have about 3 acres ot cut plus i want to be able to put a snowblower on it as my driveway drifts in quite frequently. I am looking for used and want to stay in th 3-4k price range. Any suggestion?

:welcome: to lmf! lots of info on here! and if you want a nice garden tractor i would recommend a craftsman or a cub cadet and since you want a blower front end, anything ABOVE 20hp would work great. and since you will be blowing snow right now since its winter, the deck comes off really easy. i dont know about cub cadets in that department! but they are both good brands, and my craftsman i plow with, i havent mowed with it because i have to buy all new belts for the deck but just some advice.

I all so like craftsman.

Out of all the riding mowers out there you don't hear or craftsman rear ends breaking like junk deer.

I would definitely take a look at a Kubota G series. Good heavy duty units which will give you many years of service.

I don't usually recommend Kubotas (because I don't know that much about them), but they seem like solid machines (like Rivets said). This user's new Kubota looks like it might be worth a demo: http://www.lawnmowerforum.com/members/pjclipper-albums-new-rig.html.

I would also suggest reading this thread to give you an idea about some of the good brands: http://www.lawnmowerforum.com/mower-buying-pricing/13085-best-lawn-tractor.html.

I agree kubota is what I would buy if I was not so cheap.
But I do have a craftsman with a kubota engine on it

For that price range you can probably buy this new at Cub Cadet, LTX 1050

A 1960-1970 Simplicity or Allis Chalmers

My family has been collecting (think we reached 45 now going to go pick up 46 this weekend ), mowing (we have 20 acres), plowing, pulling (asphalt dead weight tractor pulls) and restoring.

These old Briggs engines will run twice your lifetime. And if you put $2,000 into one of these it will be all chrome lol
