Have two twenty year old off set wheel genuine (b4 Toro) rear drive models - wife and I do an acre in an hour. I don't wanna think about life without them. We love 'em and are upset with Toro doing it their way. Now Lawn Boy is just another mower, no longer unique in design. What are we gonna replace them with when the time comes?? Sniff, sniff!!

WELCOME TO LMF!
Those Lawn Boys seemed like great mowers! Do you have any pictures you could share?

Although Lawn Boys never, I believe, had great reviews or lots of accolades from the so called experts, I have loved everything about them. I had a $550 highly "rated" Honda twenty years ago with quality features like a blade clutch but I'll take my old lawn boys any day.

Hello and Welcome to the forum. I doubt you will find the reliability of them in anything built today in our use and throw away society. Good thing that you joined the forum as it is a great tool in keeping those old Lawn boy's mowing for many years to come. Many here are still using their old mowers and maintaining them in good running condition. 0thers may have other opinions, but I would look for the same old models for sale, to buy inexpensively, running or not, for replacement parts if needed and they may outlast you. Just my :2cents:.

I share your love of the old LBs. I have several and am always looking for good deals.

You live in a good area for collecting old Lawn-Boys. Keep your eyes peeled.

Please tell us the model numbers and post some photos in the Lawn-Boy forum.

Even the ones right after Toro takover are excellent mowers! Just make sure they have the F engine on them. I am not a fan of the V motor, but the Duraforce is decent. Keep checking craigslist often!

V is ?
F is ?
My 10685 has a Tecumseh unit
The blade/brake clutch....all the more to go wrong...does not improve any performance....only keeps the safety nazis happy.

V motors sit straight in line on the deck with the spark plug in the front and carb in the back and all the ones that I have seen are steel deck with offset wheels and are two stroke.

F motors set diagonal on the deck with the spark plug in the back right and the carb is on the front left if you are behind the operating handle. All are two stroke.

If it is tecumseh on lawn boy is a 4 stroke. And that model number you provided is a hint that it is one of the newer ones.
