Lazer Z CT blowing fuses (both-one at a time)

While cutting one day the motor stopped. Checked fuses and one was blown (not sure which one now). Put in a new fuse and blew as soon as key turned to run. This continued to happen so we started to review all wiring for a short (nothing found). Have replaced switches along the way including the ignition switch and pto switch. Still have not found the problem. Tried turning key to start position and did not blow fuse until key went back to run position (starter did not move as well). Both fuses will blow (one at a time, whichever one is the weakest.) Any suggestions as to what to replace/check next?

You will need to start with a wiring diagram or you will just be stumbling around in the dark. Even if you have to pay for a wiring diagram . Then follow the circuits back from the blown fuses till you find the short. Most repair service manuals will include this diagram and you can use this manual for other future problems also. Other then that you can only do what mechanic mark just told you what to do ???
 
Sounds like you definitely have a bare wire somewhere touching the frame and causing a dead short since it's blowing both fuses. Check you're wiring harness again, bet you'll find it.
 
Dissconnect the alternator and / or the rectifier and try again.
As you still have not posted the mower / engine details we are still just guessing

We disconnected the rectifier and it is not blowing a fuse. Does this indicate I need a new rectifier?
