Using a Scag tiger Cub and the left rear transmission hesitates then takes off with a thrust when in use on turns or to back-up. What could cause that issue?

I'm helping an old neighbor with his Snapper rear engine mower. The serial number is 35272234, and the model number is 331413KVA. Can someone tell me what these numbers stand for? I'd like to download the correct manual so I can help him with it.

Ok, will try to fix. Pulled head and one valve is shot. Now looking for valve compressor took. They got 8 inch and 10 inch. searched the site and no part number. Any suggestions
