...okay, NBD. However, I can't figure out how to get the thing out of the mower so I can check/charge/change it. Looks to me like you need to remove the seat, or the whole top platform under the seat. The owner's manual just says remove holddown and lift out battery. Must be based on the Z425, it sure doesn't work on the 445. Anybody know how to approach this?

You lean the seat forward & remove the rod that the seat pivots on... Disconnect the wiring plug on the seat... then remove the seat . The battery is then very easy to get to... :smile:KennyV

Thanks. It seems rather a bizarre way to have to do this, but you are exactly right about how to go about it. Interestingly enough, I checked with the dealer where i purchased the thing and they had to call the factory to find out.
