I don't have access to a weld or know anyone with one, otherwise I would have gone that route. I'll likely just keep an eye out for a solid Toro deck and transfer the parts over if needed.
I've been repairing mowers as a hobby for some time, although I'm trying to just clear our what's left to make room in my garage again. You can see my exploits here:

Considering what that mower is worth, it would have been economical to take it to a welder & get the deck welded.
As for cleaning the garage out, no chance .
Fixing things that others have discarded is in your DNA so no matter what you do they will follow you home.
And good on you for doing it .
The planet needs more repairers and a lot fewer toss it outers if there is going to be any chance of a human turning the last page on a 2999 calendar.
