After checking the ignition with a digital multimeter I found it was no good so I ordered a new one, problem is I cant figure out how to remove the old ignition on this yardbug. I removed the key and the rubber cap to find an oblong kind of nut but it doesnt appear to be a threaded nut so Im not sure how to remove it. I would sure appreciate it if someone could help with this , theres not a whole lot of help on the internet.
Thats fine but it doesnt help me to figure out how to remove it. I tried popping it out with a big screwdriver and all I did was bend the frame surrounding the switch.

Seeing you need to buy a new switch anyways, buy the new switch and maybe you will be able to see how its held in???
But did you look behind and see the two ( might be 3 ) tangs that need to be compressed to get the switch out.
On of them is removable and the other has to be broken to get it out as there is not enough space to compress the tangs back against the switch.
Okay so the rubber piece where you put the key in has been taken. Can you turn the nut counter clockwise? I done it on my father's yardbug with adjustable wrench on the two flat spots and it started loosening up. Yours may be different though.
