WR Float bowl needed

Hiya,

I picked up an '89 commercial 21" push with a white WR v185 off of CL a while back. Someone way overtightened the floatbowl destroying the sealing surface, now it drips fuel, not much but still too much to run safely. Anyone have one or know where can I find a new one?

Thanks,

Tom

White WR V185 engine? Its a new one on me, never heard or seen one. I couldn't really find anything on the web. Would really like to know more on it. Seeing it has a floatbowl it must be a gas engine? Is there a name on the carburetor and if there is maybe that is the way to get parts for it.

On top of the shroud it will have a model number, either W1-145 (4hp, 4cycle), W1-185 (5hp, 4cycle) or WT1-125 (4hp, 2cycle). Of course those horse power ratings aren't totally accurate but those are the three WR models of the white-engine vintage...at least that came on the snapper walk-behinds. Parts are not easy to come by other than the air filters. If any of the online parts suppliers can't help eBay is usually the best place unfortunately. Or find another WR engine for parts. Sad really, those are great engines and last forever. Really sad to see something so well built go out of production.

Just how vintage is a snapper that has the White engine? It just seems like everything I look at go's to B&S. Was this a engine that just Snapper used or did other company's use it. I have looked but for some reason can't find anything on that engine. I did come across White motor Company that made large trucks. Who might of made the engine? I wouldn't think they made there own carburetor or did they? :confused2:

The snappers that used white WR engines ended in about 1989. They were offered on snappers for only a few years, maybe 1984-1989 or so. They used Mikuni carbs but to my knowledge they were specific to those WR engines and if u happen to find one on eBay they're usually around $100. Not the $25 carbs that show up that are listed for horizontal-shaft WR generators, those won't work on vertical-shaft mower engines. Not sure about other mowers using WR engines other than snapper. I've seen them on some Jacobsen but I don't know if they were original or not.

Is it the round bowl or the kinda square one?

Mikuni is a very popular motorcycle, ATV, and snowmobile carburetor. Maybe you can find parts there?? That carburetor has been around for years.
