Would this be worth getting fixed?

Sorry it's taken me so long to reply, the last couple of weeks have been crazy busy.

I was seriously considering that, though I'm hesitant because our jungle yard is basically a nightmare of hidden roots/stumps/other hazards that only I know how to safely navigate a mower through. Afraid I might have to pay for damages if anyone else tries to mow it.

I am glad you have that issue. Most of the junk mowers that I come across look showroom clean and have unannounced rapid self disassembled engines

Spend whatever it takes to clean up the yard making it free of mowing hazards.

Checking it I found it was low/out of oil, so I think it had developed an oil leak, though maybe I just didn't tighten the filter enough last time I changed it. It still wouldn't start after refilling the oil, the engine turns but doesn't catch. There does seem to be more oil leaking on and underneath the engine since.

I can do basic maintenance on it but removing and disassembling the engine is beyond me. Any idea how expensive this would be to get fixed/replaced at a shop? Or would it be cheaper to just get a new mower at this point? I should mention we're probably only going to need a big, triple bladed Delta Executor riding mower for a few more years at the most.

Since it has been very poorly maintained, not likely. Expensive repairs - $500 + to fix Oil leak, sharpen blades, check belts etc. Get Compression checked FIRST if going the repair route.
