White L 12 stuck in low gear

shift on the fly, not sure of year
forward/reverse shift lever on fender and speed control on dash
stuck in low gear, I can shift between forward and reverse but mower moves at snails pace
I posted this question and someone said need to know model number, sticker is rusted off

I youtubed it and am going to have a go at the variable speed pulley, hope I dont have to pull whole body off. Enclosed is a picture of the mower

You might try lubricating the pulley bushings / bearings and that might get you by this year's mowing season. Then you can spend all winter looking for parts and repair it. Could be the variable speed pulleys binding.

Are both of your drive belts the right size it sounds like you back belt is to small

not sure if belts are right, ill try partstree. I wish there was a way to get at it a little better. Now if I take that variable speed pulley off I should be able to see the operation of it right? And also, when at a stop the belt should be all the way down? , the pulley closes as it goes faster right. Thanks for the help
