Last week it got up to 90 degrees here most of the week but today it only was in the 50's and it was super windy. Tonight it is going to get down to 40 degrees. :confused2:

But I bet you don't have the swarms of blackflies that are typically around this time of year

Yes we had some warm weather earlier in the week and the black flies were thick and hungry. We are on our second day of cold rain now. They were calling for snow but it didn't happen. I agree no black flies for now but they will be back. It gives me time for some inside the camp work which I have been puting off.

Our camp is in the southern adirondacks , this weekend would have been good to get some outside stuff done . I have a full sized pick-up bed full of firewood in a shed that needs to get moved onto the back porch for this coming hunting season.
A neighbor up there liked to say :

" Yep we have 3 seasons 'round here . 1st you get the black flies , then the deer flies , then the snow flies . "

My camp sits in 35 acres of woods which I own, I have all the fire wood I could want. But for 60 dollars a cord for fire wood which is cut, split, and dumped in front of my fire wood building I let the locals do the do the wood cutting and hard work. All I have to do is stack it and burn it. You just can't find a cheaper source of heat.

Wow, sixty dollars for a cord of wood that is cut, split and delivered. I just paid 240 for the same thing. How could they make any money for 60?

I'm with you guys its been a very cool spring and has just in the last week made the lower 70's. Add to that it has been very wet out and this week is calling for thunder storms all week. If the sun ever comes out we will be very busy keeping up with the lawn.

Big difference between a cord and a face cord. I had a 1/2 load of logs delivered 2 years ago. 300$ . I never saw the whole logs , my neighbor at camp loves running his saw ( and 2 of mine ) so all I saw was in the pic with a 100 # dog for perspective .
I ended up with 12 + face cords ( close to 2' in length of the blocks X 8 ' x 4 ' ) of maple , beech , birch , and a little ash.
