Wheel/Hub Slack

My Z50 EZT gearbox drives have two flat side that fit into the axle hub. There is "slack, movement" between the flats of the axle and the wheel bore itself.

I'd appreciate ideas as to how to tighten up the wheels/hubs.

Things I have considered: 1. Spot weld the axles, file down to fit the wheel...worried about excessive heat on seal
2. Metal shims between axle and wheel hubs...probably would beat them out over time.

Thanks in advance,

bartles

Hello B.,

I grew up out in the mountains of Virginia in a farm/ranch community and learned a lot of "creative" repairs that worked in situations like this.

Yes, it's harder metal so wear would be greatly reduced. You may have to use some Loctite bearing retainer liquid to "glue it in place". That stuff works very well in moderation.
