What happens if I mention politics here?

Do other members get to censor my opinions because it offends their personal feelings?

The forum rules specifiy, among other things, no hateful posts, and there is a certain political party that loves to scream "Hate Speach!" every time someone offers an opinion that differs from their own. So, I'd have to say politics are one of those topics better left alone here.

That is your opinion and I disagree with it but I agree you HAVE THE RIGHT TO THAT OPINION so I am not going to try and censor you JUST BECAUSE I DISAGREE WITH YOU. However, there do seem to be numerous members here who feel they have the right to censor others.

However, the description of this very subforum says "except politics". There isn't much "gray area" in that one, JD....

You are an intelligent, well-reasoned man. You know better.

Well, see there's the rub. You and I may be able to have a political discussion with differing viewpoints and be able to keep it reasonably civil and maybe go have a beer together afterwards. Unfortunately, there are many out there that are just incapable of rational thought or discussion when it comes to politics, especially on internet sites where there is a fair amount of anonimity. That's why political topics are frowned upon on many forums. Nothing brings out the internet Rambos quicker than politics and religion.
