I was mowing without the spindle covers on and lost the wing screws that hold cover on. I want to know their name to look up them on ebay. I avoid the dealer whenever I can. I have a Tiger Cat 2

that is the first thing I take off, the grass collects under it and have to remove to really see that the check valve is working proper when you great the spindle, makes cleaning easier.

If there are no kids using the mower & you can train yourself to always enter and exit over the front of the mower and the set switch is operational then by all means take them off.
I regularly cut holes in them for customers to prevent grass accumulating under them or make them easy to clean out with a leaf blower.
Not as much of a problem with ZTRs as it is with tractors .
Lots of nasty injuries from feet and spinning pulleys coming into contact with each other particularly on decks over 40" wide.

I still have the safety switch connected, would have to be fast to get off the seat and step on one of them while still moving.
