For the past week or so I have had so many timeouts it drives me nuts. The dns is fine and tracert is fine with a couple of timeouts after 204.68.252.171 during an outage. That said, I believe this to be in your router (port forwarding) or hardware firewall, ssl/tls certificate, or the servers. Anyone else?

Yep, site is messed up.

It called mot having enough bandwidth when you are trying to expand into other areas. They either got to pay more for more BW or stop expanding. Besides with all the ads they have they should have the funds.

I can't believe your hosting site, DigitalOcean, is unable to fix mesh and/or load balancing issues for such a long period of time. Your bandwidth is fine, extremely low load according to my testing. I was a CIO for a large company for years, and I would be calling DigitalOcean every 1/2 hour for a status and pushing to get it fixed. If they can't figure it out...get MS/Cisco in there to work on it with them. My test shows an MS server farm with a strong Linux-based security system in front of Cisco routing and switches.

They need to move the site to Bluehost, SiteGround, DreamHost, or HostGator...or in-house...this is unacceptable. I am not seeing any timeouts; DNS is fine, and Tracert is fine; the issue appears to be with JS or SQL or a combination.

It not just you we all are having problems all the way inaccessible site errors. The management don't care to fix the problem. It took 30 minutes early this morning to get in.

I going to be out range for at least week as I travel back to Pluto to visit family but I be lucky if I can get back in the country as the US is barring nearly everyone with valid passports now if you don't say things the way they want you to say. Other words I am going to be off world for week at least.

it is still an ongoing problem. Some browsers do it worse than others. Occasionally code will come up instead of a page. Maybe that is why Google is laying off now - paying people to make others go in circles. DOGE is not at fault here. If anything just the opposite. X, Starlink, Tesla, and SpaceX all work. That is what pisses you off huh StarTech? But we do appreciate all your mower and engine suggestions anyway. :)

Being new to the group, ... It took a mind numbing time, over the weekend, to even register, cuz' it didn't appear to accept My Data, & I thought that I'd try it one more time this morning. When I typed in my "Group Name", it stated that the Name was already taken! LOL! I then tried logging in, & typing in my Password, & it worked.

Since this morning,.... I've gotten "Not available", "& "Can't be found", but,.... When I toggled the Java Script on, & off that would clear it up.

But in my case, ... "When it rains,... It Floods", which causes me to start singing "We shall Overcome", even Pray at times.

Well the server is being monitored more now. I did find a misconfigured script that hopefully was the culprit with our constant timeouts. But I'll be monitoring it and we'll see.

Your efforts are appreciated; some very good members have dropped out due to the hangups.

We are all just trying to help people the best way we can without added aggravations of a slow site.

We appreciate you using the forum! And I want to apologize for the really crappy performance over the past several months. I thought it was more stable than it was because I had "fixed" it a few times over the past months. But while I thought it was something taking time to build up, it was a bug that was almost immediately gumming up the works. It's been only 12 hours since I tried a fix but it SEEMS like I may have found the culprit. 🤞🏻

For those curious: A monitoring script was "half-installed" but not configured so it kept trying to login to check the status of the database. But using a wrong username. No big deal? Sure, except it was also set to try to check EVERY MINUTE. 🤦🏻‍♂️

That's been cleared up and fixed and so far it's been about 12 hours and it's been ok. A little too early to claim victory, but fingers crossed.

If anyone notices bugs going forward, comment here and I'll read it and take a look. Thanks again for your patience.

#71

Update: While I'm having some success with the fix, I'm having a slowdown on another browser even though the first browser is able to access fast.

StarTech is a huge loss along with a couple of others who have more quietly just disappeared. Small engines is a tough business and only getting tougher due to lack of a knowledge base. This site is a huge asset to the small engine community.

So far, today the site seems to be stable and not lagging to excess. Thanks for all of your efforts.

I don’t see any changes this morning. Took me 30 minutes of trying before it let me log in and forum is very slow. I appreciate all your efforts and can’t wait for you to resolve the problem. Good Luck.

I was actively working on it this morning and did manage to break it before getting it on again.

When you have the hangups, does it not load the main forum page? Or does the forum page load but you can't click on login/links/etc.?

I'm just trying to narrow it down because I'm also experiencing slowdowns and trying to figure out a pattern is a big help for diagnostics.

Doesn't go anywhere at all. Just times out for me on updated Firefox and Windoze 11. Pages do not load.

Most times it will not load anything. Other times I will type in a reply, but it will not allow me to post it. I must quit the site, not log out, open new, reenter my material and try to post.

Hello Ibrahim,

Not out of the woods yet. As has day wears on, the site is hanging up trying to open posts or send replies.

10:15 TX CST using Outlook on Windows 10, I get to the site fine, write my reply to a post and then hit post reply and watch it time out the right top of the screen, wait a couple of extra minutes and then hit post reply again and it does the same thing. Took 4 attempts before the reply would post.

I get out of the site and then try to come back, and it hangs up and I have to hit refresh in my upper tool bar browser to get the page to load.

Thanks. I've been turning logging on to try to track some of the slowdowns. It's not trigging some logs so I'm trying to turn on more logs to sniff it out. But right now it's loading quickly through my tests. But I agree we're probably not out of the woods, so I'm going to not touch the site for about an hour or so and let's just see how it works. Please let me know of any slowdowns. I'll get it fixed.

Launched another "tab" in latest updated FireFox. No luck.

Launched Edge browser. Same thing, pages do not load.

For me, doesn't seem to be a browser issue.

I've had to SAVE a post in word BEFORE posting a reply and come back in day or two and try to post reply later.
Not a good thing to type a long help reply trying to help someone and then the reply get lost in outer space and gone forever.

THANKS FOR LETTING US KNOW THAT YOU are not deaf and ARE TRYING TO "get er dun"

As of 10:00am Pacific (1pm Eastern) I have blocked some repeating bot traffic that might have been hammering the connections. Try flushing out your cache and closing your browser and loading it fresh (Opening a fresh "private" window should also trigger a fresh load of LMF)

Not declaring it fixed yet, just updating you guys and asking for more trouble reports here... 🤞🏻

More fixes have been implemented. Please report slow loading if it happens after 1:45pm EDT today.

See you later if your site ever gets fixed. I tired of cussing the screen. No point getting my Afib stirred any more than it is already.

BYE FOR NOW...

Apologies for the unacceptably long time without getting back to you or fixing it.

We've implemented a number of fixes today that seems to have improved things (at least it's held steady for the past 3 hours.) And I've got my eyes on it to make sure it does improve if the fixes we worked on today aren't the culprit.

Maybe the site's improved enough for you to give us another try.

Logged in and out many times yesterday and this morning, no problems yet. Thank you for your help and due diligence in hopefully solving the problem.

Thanks to all the folks that have stuck with this issue and finally hammered it out (I hope).

So far, knock on wood, everything has been going smoothly.

We're all knocking on wood daily here but it does seem like things are patched up. I've been watching the logs and they haven't been showing the same issues we had over the past months. I'm going to set up some alerts that will hopefully warn me if it starts happening again. But if it starts happening again, make a new post (or reply to this one) and we'll see it. Faster than last time, I promise.

Is there some magic formula for attaching JPEG photos from my SD card? I tried to yesterday and it kept telling me the JPEG files were too big. Even on a single picture it would do that.

Is there some kind of different/ special format that only this site accepts?

There is a file upload limit. I've bumped it up to 8 megs for a maximum file size on an image. So you should be able to upload any jpegs (or other image formats) as long as the file size is below 8 megs.

Just resize in windoze 11 Photos app program deal. All you need is 640 x 480 for this site. Don't need hi rez stuff.

The previous limit was 1 megabyte which is really low. I agree we all probably got used to uploading too big files all over, but slightly higher resolution going forward won't be too bad thing. If it does actually seem detrimental let me know and we can maybe put it lower to 4 megs maybe to help slower connections.
