Vanguard V Twin rough running

Hi

I have a 16Hp Vanguard which hunts both at idle and high speed. It was sitting with fuel in it for a year or so. I’ve cleaned out the carb as best I can several times but still have the problem. When I adjust the needle which I assume Is for idle mixture, it makes no effect whatsoever. The engine starts fine though.

Any ideas greatly received.

Carburettor must be dissassembled completely then cleaned completely
This may require boiling in a pot of dishwasher solution for a considerable time if you do not have access to an ultrasonic cleaner.
Even then some take several hours to come good

Post numbers from engine, model xxxxxx, type xxxx, xx code xxxxxxxx
purchase a rebuild kit & rebuild carburetor after cleaning, drain old gas from tank , lines, etc. replace fuel filter, add fresh 93 octane gasoline with either B&S fuel treatment per instructions on bottle or use StarTron fuel treatment.
With engine cold adjust valves & check pre filter & air filter. Let us know how it goes, thanks, Mark
